Clearly, I'm obsessed. But since most of the folks that happen to walk through my LJ are "Smallville" fans, I thought I'd share.

AlMiles gave an interview about "Charlie's Angels" with some mentions of "Smallville":

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how to react. I see a lot of the same talking points that they had during their run as the EPs of "Smallville". I think it's odd that they already anticipate that fans will be harsh. I'm kind of like, "Dude. The reason fans were harsh about SV was because YOU MADE IT SUCK. Not because fans are mean." They say casting is everything, but they cast Kristin Kreuk in "SV" and now they've cast Minka Kelly. Um... say what?

ew.com is also reporting that the show has been "updated" to make the Angels reforming criminals. (As oppose to women who got screwed by the Police Academy.) I can see how - in this age of female empowerment - they felt that it was unbelievable to create a scenario where three women were treated in a sexist manner and, therefore, starting working the private sector. But reformed criminals? Haven't they done this show a million times already? Couldn't they have made them FBI, CIA, and cops (respectively) and just said these women were hand-picked by they were THAT good? And that they decided to work in the private sector because the pay was better and so were the shoes? I mean, I don't know...

Randomly, I am also kind of cringing to see what David E. Kelley's interviews regarding "Wonder Woman" are going to be like. And having watched the Pilot of "Harry's Law", I'm really concerned about what the scenes with Diana are going to be like. Is she going to stand up and give a lecture on how the death penalty sucks and that the tea party movement is horrible within 10 minutes of the opening of the show? I am SO confused as to how the corporate executive angle is going to play & it is really starting to wig me out that David. E. Kelley has NO experience doing sci-fi. I liked "Picket Fences", "Ally McBeal", and "The Practice" in their early seasons, but THAT resume does not mean the man can write WONDER WOMAN. Arguably the biggest superhero out there after Superman and Spiderman.

I had no problem with Kreuk as Lana but when I started watching SV, I approached her, Chloe & Martha as people who would have an influence on Clark's choice of a romantic partner in the future. If anything, I was really disappointed when they pulled back on her quasi-Luthorization because unlike the whole witch-ancestor storyline, Lana's decisions after her divorce were entirely her own instead of her perception of what others wanted from her.

I know very little about Wonder Woman but my perception is that she's more of an ambassador than an executive. I guess having her travel all over the world would be too hard on the budget. :P But even a lawyer would be more fitting than a CEO, yes? Unless it's a head of a non-profit agency?

I think the bigger problem is even DC doesn't know how to handle her in her own books. I thought the recent animated movie was a lot of fun, but then Simone was involved and I love her stuff. Rucka wrote a really good Wonder Woman too.

This show? It sounds like a train wreck. I'm not going to watch it. I made the mistake with Smallville, I'm not going to do it again. If by some miracle it turns out to be good, I'll catch it after it finishes.
